Hope Media Group is thrilled to have merged with WAY Media, combining each organization’s rich heritage to better serve an audience of more than 4 million individuals worldwide with positive multimedia content over both radio and digital!

By aligning our efforts to create and share uplifting content, our media brands continue to be a beacon of Hope for all. We could not be more excited for this next chapter as we realize the vision of integrating the best of our respective ministries to enhance our impact for the cause of Christ.

Headquartered in Houston, Reaching Across the Country

Fundraising and construction plans are underway for a new 50,000 square foot ministry and media center to be located at 121 N. Redemption Square in Generation Park, a mixed-use urban development on Beltway 8 in northeast Houston.

The newly merged organization employs nearly 200 people, with over half based in the Houston area. Groundbreaking is currently projected to take place by the end of September with a projected move-in date of May 2024, all dependent on fundraising efforts.

Vida Unida is family-oriented and influenced by Hispanic culture with inspirational Christian music and media in Spanish.

Meet Hope Media Group’s Leadership Team

Joe Paulo, President & CEO

Joe Paulo has been President & Chief Executive Officer of Hope Media Group since 2018.  With an extensive background in media and leadership, he began at KSBJ as Vice-President of Operations in 2017 after serving at Educational Media Foundation (K-LOVE/Air1) as the Director of Donor Stewardship and Communications.  He led a division of Columbia International University as Director of Broadcasting until 2014, overseeing the growth of successful radio stations in Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC.  Joe has also provided volunteer leadership at the board of director level for other nonprofits such as Youth Commission International and Christian Music Broadcasters.  He earned a Master’s Degree in Business with honors from Liberty University in 2014.  In addition to speaking on leadership, fundraising and media, Joe and his wife, Kelly, have hosted or spoken at numerous marriage and parenting events to share their passion for marriage, parenting and adoption.  Joe and Kelly have been married for 30 years and have three daughters and two sons.

Tim Dukes, Chief Operating Officer

Tim Dukes spent 24 years in secular media and markets that include Chicago, Atlanta, San Diego, and Tampa before answering God’s call to vocational ministry in 2011. After four years in para-church work, he joined WayFM in 2015 as General Manager of its new station in Dallas-Fort Worth to combine his media and ministry experience and added regional responsibility in 2019 for Way Media properties in Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, and Indiana. In 2020, Tim was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and added interim CEO responsibilities a year later. Tim and his wife Susan were married in 1989 and live in Dallas, as does their adult daughter Macy.

Desiree Gonzalez, Chief Financial Officer

Desiree Nicole Gonzalez, native of the Rio Grande Valley, moved to Houston with her husband Roger, in 2007. Although a job with PricewaterhouseCoopers brought Desiree to Houston, the Lord was orchestrating behind the scenes for Desiree to be at Hope Media Group (HMG) for such a time as this. Desiree has over 14 years of audit, accounting, and finance experience, of which eight years have been spent serving the Lord at HMG. Though Desiree graduated with a Master of Science in Accounting and holds a CPA license, it was in her time at AES where she recognized her passion for financial planning and analysis. Desiree and Roger have celebrated over 14 years of marriage in May and have a daughter, Sophia. When together, they love to serve and fellowship together.

Ron Harrell, Chief of Programming

Ron Harrell has been leading teams of passionate broadcasters and content developers for more than 30 years. From his earliest on-air job at age 15, he was fascinated with the concept of creating a passionate listening experience for the audience through music and conversation. His leadership roles in secular media started in Jackson, MS in the late 1980s, and continued in Nashville, Denver, Detroit, Dallas, and Seattle. Ron joined the Way Media team in January 2021 as the VP, Brand and Content for WayFM and Way Nation.

Jim Marshall, Chief of Media Operations

Jim Marshall began his media career as a teenager in the late 1970’s as the evening disc jockey at his hometown radio station in West Virginia. Since then, he has served in nearly every role in the industry, from production to technical to management to on-air, and worked in markets as small as Ashland, KY and as big as Chicago. Jim joined WayFM in 2005 as Southeast Regional Manager based in West Palm Beach, FL. In 2021, he was promoted to Vice President of Operations of WayFM, and relocated to Nashville, where the network’s operational headquarters are located. Jim is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, and he and his wife Reba have been married for over 35 years. They have four adult children.

Elaine Welcome, Chief of Administration/General Manager – Houston

There aren’t many people as appropriately named as Elaine Welcome. Born the day after Christmas in the great state of Texas, Elaine is a welcome member of the Hope Media Group family serving as the Chief of Administration and General Manager Houston Market. Her many responsibilities range from Human Resources to strategy, volunteers, front desk, facilities, data science and community relations. Elaine may wear a lot of hats around the Hope Media Group offices, but her favorite hat to wear comes with a kayak or a paddleboard. If she’s not at work she’s either spending time in the great outdoors with her husband, Steve, her son, Brandon and her two grandsons, Cruz and Teal, or her fur-babies Bailee, Bella, Sadee, and Harley.

Shawn Farrington, Chief of Innovation

As the Chief of Innovation, Shawn is excited to lead in the discovery, incubation, and infusion of new ideas throughout the ministry – primarily developing new products and services that will engage people love Jesus, serve others and spread Hope. Already over the past several years, Shawn has led the team that developed the Spanish language content brand Vida Unida, as well as the all-digital brand HOPE ON DEMAND. In addition to the innovation process, his areas of responsibility include digital content, concerts & events, and the ministry & prayer teams. Shawn says, “We are going to be looking at all these areas through the lens of innovation – and creating world-class digital content, great events & experiences, and meaningful spiritual connection with our audience SO THAT they will become fully committed followers of Christ, bearing fruit in their lives and fulfilling the Great Commission.”

Paul Martin, Chief of Development

Paul Martin joined Hope Media Group as Chief Of Development. Martin, recently Senior Partner at DickersonBakker—a premier donor development consulting firm—brings decades of experience in donor engagement and business development in both radio and digital media. Paul helps donors and business partners discover the joy of participating in ministry through giving.

Paul founded Advocace Media (which combined with DickersonBakker in 2019) to help Christian radio grow funding from corporate sponsors, mid-level and major donors. He also was a leader of founding teams at KLTY (twice), Salem Media Representatives, Salem Radio Network, Popmail (a digital media solution for radio), Separate Account Solutions (a financial services firm for High Net Worth households), and Christian Broadcasting Network.

Paul and his wife Paula have three adult daughters and have a heart for the disadvantaged and disabled.
