John Davis is a business, nonprofit, and estate planning attorney with deep experience helping individuals, families, and organizations. As a partner at Lynch Murphy McLane LLP, he advises business owners, nonprofit leaders, and families on minimizing risk, navigating transitions, and structuring complex trusts, partnerships, and succession plans. John also serves as outside general counsel to many nonprofit organizations and businesses with national and international reach.
John has served on numerous regional boards and currently serves as Board Chair of the Oregon Institute of Technology, the Northwest’s only Polytechnic University. Deeply invested in generosity and community-building, John is a founding partner of Charitable Legacy Partners, and is a past board member with National Christian Foundation Northwest and remains involved with NCF regionally and nationally. John is involved locally with his church, Young Life, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has held leadership roles across several nonprofit boards and civic organizations, with a particular passion for helping ministries and mission-driven organizations operate with excellence and vision.
John began his professional journey by graduating first in his law school class at Willamette University College of Law before practicing in Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon. He currently has law offices near Portland, Oregon and Bend, Oregon.
From 2013 to 2017, John served as a State Representative in the Oregon Legislature, playing a key role on the House Revenue Committee and as Vice Chair of the Transportation and Economic Development Committee. Outside the office, John enjoys hiking, golfing, and spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their two sons, William and Charlie. He is also an avid reader and a dedicated motorsports fan—especially of Formula 1 and all things fast. With a heart for service, stewardship, and leadership, John continues to weave his legal expertise into his work with businesses, ministries, and community organizations across the globe.
