Giving in 2025: Why This Year Could Be Especially Strategic

As 2025 winds down, we’re turning our hearts toward hope—and toward the future. Through radio, streaming, live events, and podcasts, Hope Media Group continues to reach listeners and families across the nation with messages of encouragement, truth, and love.

This year also brings important tax considerations that may make giving in 2025 especially meaningful, both for the ministry and for you as a donor.

Recent updates (or proposed updates) to federal tax law mean that now may be an especially strategic time to plan your giving carefully. Russell James, Professor of Charitable Giving at Texas Tech University, wrote a great article to help guide donors“Top 10 Ways to Give Smarter with the 2025 Tax Law”.

Because tax law is complex, we encourage you to consult your financial or tax advisor before making any gift decisions.

Here are Some Smart Ways to Give Before December 31

1. Cash Gifts (Online or by Mail)
A direct cash gift is the simplest way to support Hope Media Group. Your contribution fuels more radio programs, podcasts, events, and encouragement for families nationwide.

  • If mailing a check, be sure your envelope is postmarked by December 31.

  • Online gifts count on the date received.

2. Appreciated Stock or Other Long-Term Assets
Donating stock, mutual funds, ETFs, or other long-term assets may allow you to:

  • Avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation, and

  • Deduct the full fair market value (subject to IRS rules).

This approach allows your gift to go further—supporting more ministry while being financially savvy.

3. Donor-Advised Funds (DAF)
If you use a donor-advised fund, you can recommend a grant to Hope Media Group at any time. Once issued, your gift supports our work immediately.

  • Your deduction occurs when you fund the DAF, not when you recommend the grant.

4. IRA Gifts (For Supporters 70½ or Older)
If you are 70½ or older, you may qualify to transfer funds directly from your IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD):

  • A QCD can count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).

  • Because funds go directly to charity, they are typically not treated as taxable income, which may reduce your overall tax burden.

  • For 2025 gifts, transfers must be completed by December 31.

5. Vehicle Donations
Do you have a car, truck, or other vehicle you no longer use? Donating it to Hope Media Group can create meaningful impact:

  • Your vehicle can be turned into ministry support through our trusted donation partner.

  • You receive documentation for tax reporting.

✅ Why Giving Now Matters

Your gift today makes an immediate difference. Every contribution received before December 31 helps fund more broadcasts, podcasts, events, and outreach in the coming year.

Timing matters: With new tax rules taking effect in 2026, gifts made in 2025 may offer greater tax value, whether through cash, stock, IRA transfers, vehicle donations, or DAF grants.
